Part of PERFECT ICE, by Nicholas Mizet takes place in a school modeled after Price Lab. It's about Vietnam mostly and written by a grad of the school based on experiences in that far-flung Asian country. Available at B&N, Amazon, including Kindle, and Chirp audio books.

Just 60 years after it opened, the only sound in once-vibrant halls are gentle breezes whispering the hopes of youthful souls with dreams of love and promise.

Thanks to the annual Chili Supper fund raiser, which was willed to the class of '62 when they were in seventh grade by the graduating seniors of 1956, our senior trip went all the way to Washington D.C., the first class to do so in the history of State College High School. Actually we were the first seniors to do anything for SCHS, seeing as how the name changed from Teachers College High School that year.

We had not just a gym, but a Field House, complete with indoor track. With its connection to the State College of Iowa (later the Uiversity of Northern Iowa), Malcolm Price Labaoratory School enjoyed atypical facilities for a school our size. The class of 1962 had only 45 students.

Sigrid Erickson and Judy Hurlburt ready to show Washington DC something about chic.

Barbara Bailey and Linda Jorgenson traveled in style, too.

The class of '62 had some students that could say they sang at the White House!

At the 30th reunion, Becky is trying (barely visible), but whether she made it to the top is lost to history. After all, we were 48 years old!

Tony Hooper, Doc Penly, et al. This just in: Tony will attend the 50th!
Picture
Norm Pedersen's classic '57 Chevy. Didn't we see that very car in " American Graffiti?"

Marcia (Thuesen) Williams provided these Washington D.C. trip pictures and must have taken this one of the Capitol and mall from the little window in the Washington Memorial.
